"The Velveteen Bible"

"The Velveteen (Rabbit) Bible" by Thomas Nelson

Description:
A sweet addition to the Tommy Nelson Baby/Toddler Bible line, using an adorable image of a flocked velvet bunny. The Velveteen Bible features soft fur and a fuzzy tail! Inside, the New King James Version scripture is accompanied by whimsical images of bunnies and other baby animals, colorful borders, and lovely sentiments from the scriptures. The Bible is packaged in a keepsake treasure box.

Details about the book I found:
The book comes inside of matching book box with identical cover as the book itself. Both the cover of the box/book have soft fur to the touch and the bordering leaves/flowers.  Inside the box it came with a Quality brochure that provides a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects (pretty neat!). The Bible gives the owner pages to put their name, parents, birth (when and where) and spaces to mention their baptism, etc. The Bible is NKJV (New King James Version)...I don't know a lot about the different versions of the bible...but this one is in full length as far as I know.

My thoughts...
Upon receiving this beautifully bound and fuzzy Bible package (the box & book), it seems very inviting to young children ages 2 and up (my oldest daughters age). Sadly though, after opening the book I found it to be more for an older child aged 7 and up...the writing itself inside is incredibly small, and reminds me of an actual bible, and not a childrens version whatsoever. There are some really cute illustrated pages in three different places throughout the book, that I know my little ones would love, but again the book itself is not child (or for my case toddler) friendly. This particular bible would be perfect for an older child, even as a gift to new parents or baptism.

I give this book 3/5 stars..because I was expecting an all age kid friendly version of the bible with several pictures, large text, and even a bigger book itself...and we got a very small book with tiny print, and few pictures to enjoy.

Thank You so much Booksneeze for letting me review this book! I am really enjoying being apart of your bloggers reading program :) Take care and I look forward to reading more books in the future!
