Arwen's 2nd Birthday Party

Arwen's 2nd Birthday was such a success! We decided to do a Butterfly party, and made our own decorations, including Footprint Butterflies, Hole Punched Butterflies and Stickers/Construction Paper galore!

Everyone just loved her personalized birthday book from I See Me

I just loved her invites...which I made via Pear Tree Greetings.

She went to bed with that Birthday balloon (shown above). I cannot believe that after almost 3 weeks, it is still fully floating away in her room!

My favorite picture that was taken by my friend Holly. She cheesed it up, right before we sang her "Happy Birthday".

We are so thankful to all of our friends and family that came to celebrate our sweet Arwen's birthday. Its hard to believe that she is already 2 years old! It seems like yesterday, when we celebrating we celebrated you turning ONE!

She is a handful, talkative, on-the-go, curious, adventurous, funny, sweet, honory, and surprises us each day. We cannot wait to see what's in store for you!

Destin Paisley is 3 years old!

I cannot believe that Destin Paisley is 3 years old! I think as her mommy, I will never forget when she was born and what it was like when she was still in my tummy...the fears I had, the joys I had, but mostly the memories being made. Here is what Destin looked like a couple hours after she was born ~ full head of BLACK hair, and dark blue eyes (that eventually turned brown like her daddy's).

Isn't is amazing how fast children grow...in a blink of a eye, our baby girl turned ONE.

Then 6 months later, she became a big sister...

6 months after that, we celebrated Destin's 2nd birthday...

Then a few weeks ago (a year later) we shared Destin's 3rd birthday for the first time with ALL four sets of her grandparents (minus my step mom). AND 2 great grand parents! It was really surreal knowing that both my parents and Patrick's parents were here in our house at one time. The last time that happened was our wedding reception which was in 2007. AND I am very happy to say that there were no arguments or mishaps - and we never thought there would be. We are really lucky to have such loving, caring parents ~ as the girls can say about their grandparents. They can put their differences aside and love us unconditionally despite what happened in the past.

Now back to the party...we celebrated Destin's party on Saturday with our friends and family (a couple days before her actual birth date). After many weeks of debate, we decided to have a "Max and Ruby" party. {For those of you that don't know, they are brother/sister bunny duo on Nick Jr.} And after looking at all the pics, I don't think I got any "close ups" of the decorations that I ordered online {which by the way, was the only place they were sold!!}. I must remember that for the next party we plan!

We served home made lasagna, baked spaghetti, fresh salad, fruit, veggies, garlic bread and home made cupcakes {made by Destin, Mommy, Daddy and Arwen} to her guests. I forgot to count how many people attended...but with just close family and friends, it was more than 30 people.

Destin wanted to wear make-up like mommy - Can you see it?

Arwen, Destin and Grandpa Todd

This was the first birthday my Dad (Grandpa Todd) has ever been able to attend. Hopefully that will change as he is "retiring" from the Army this year. We are so happy that we was able to come and stay for a few days, and wish that next time Grandma Julie comes too! The girls absolutely adore them both so much!

For Destin's actual birthDAY, she woke up to a cupcake...

We made plans to visit Chuck E. Cheese...but had to postpone it by a day due to a FREAK snowstorm that happened on the 13th of February. Schools were closed, roads were bad, and snow was everywhere! So, that is why both the girls have matching Valentines shirts on...because we went on Valentine's Day.

Arwen wanted to ride "Clifford" the entire time we were there!

The girls really had a lot of FUN at good ole' Chucks'...and Arwen kept saying "Chuck E. Cheese FUN!!" over and over again. In fact, it has been almost 4 weeks since we went, and  out of the blue Arwen will say "Chuck E. Cheese FUN mommy!". Ha ha!

Our trip to Chuck's place was also to celebrate Destin sleeping in her bed for almost 3 weeks (now it has been over 2 months!). YAY!!! The day after she got her new BIG girl bed (a twin size) she has slept EVERY SINGLE NIGHT in her own bed ~ ALL NIGHT LONG!! Can you believe it! Woo hoo!

Needless to say, we will have to start going to Chuck E. Cheese more often I think. Especially to motivate GOOD behavior and Arwen going pee pee in the potty  (consistently). Arwen went for the first time a couple days ago {at 19 months old}, and met another BIG milestone.

A couple weeks after Destin's birthday, we went to the pediatrician and got her 3 year checkup...which was neat to see how much she has grown. She was 3.25 feet tall (30%ile) and weighed 29.5 pounds (40%ile).

Destin never ceases to amaze us...she is so incredibly smart and really loves to read, sing, color/paint, dance, run, jump, and try new things. We are so proud of her and cannot wait to see her grow in the next year...hopefully the terrible twos won't turn into the terrifying threes (which she has shown on some days over the past month). EEK!

Something, I don't think I have shared...is that she will be attending preschool (the first time she has ever been away from me EVER) this Fall at a nearby church up the street. She is so excited, as we are as well. PLUS, she will be going with her best friend too! I know she will excel beyond our expectations, make new friends (as she does so easily), and set the bar high for herself. She is already learning how to read, and is currently trying to help mommy potty train Arwen, among many other things!

Happy 3rd Birthday my sweet girl! We love you so much!

Arwen's 1st Birthday Party

Arwen had such a wonderful 1st birthday! For her decorations I found some free printables, and did pink, white and purple for the colors...

I made favors out of old baby food jars, and filled them with pink/purple m&m's that we purchased at a local candy store (NOT cheap by the way! but they did give us an amazing discount since we bought so much!!). We hung streamers, balloons and birthday signs in the entry way, and living room too.

For Arwen's birthday outfit, I contacted a company called Stephanie's Wonderland, and she sent me a beautiful tutu/tank outfit w/matching headband :D Isn't is adorable?

We invited our close friends and family, but only about half made it - due to illness or other plans.

Arwen got so many neat gifts - including adorable outfits, books, toys, and her favorite..a wagon - for her and Destin to share :D

We even took the time to take a family photo ~ which I love!! I just wish we were all smiling ~ oh well!

The cake/cupcakes we got for Arwen turned out okay...it saved me time from making them myself, but I am thinking I would probably go somewhere else next time. There just wasn't a lot to choose from at Sams Club. But the price, they did a pretty good job.

Arwen loved eating her cake! She ate almost the entire thing in one setting! Ha!

Overall, she had such an amazing 1st birthday! Thank you to everyone that made it so special!

Happy Birthday to...ME!

I am 27 years old today. I have some pics of me blowing out the candle on my cake that Patrick bought for me...a massive chocolate cake from Sams Club that we shared with the girls, and my mom and little brother.

Patrick and I went out to eat to Houlihans and did a bunch of shopping for Adam & Natalie's wedding next weekend :)

Hard to believe that at 27, I am a wife, a mommy to two beautiful girls, have amazing friends and family that loves me....I am so lucky to have this life. Thank you to everyone that make my days so special!

Arwen's Birthday Ideas

Okay, so this post has been in progress for several months...and my hope was to share ideas, get feedback, etc. from the readers...but now I waited too long and Arwen's birthday is less than 3 weeks away! EEK!

I finally ordered the invites via Shutterfly...see post from today...and I have decided to do something with pink/white stripes...I am looking for decorations or printables to make myself...and hopefully will get some pics or something created....we will just have to see.

I won something called Divine Twine a few months back, and hope to use it for my printables as well...Wish me luck, and let me know if you have any last minute ideas for her 1st birthday :)

Weekend update

Hello Everyone! We had such a wonderful weekend! I am trying to take more videos of the girls, so please click on them below to check them out. I have many many more posted on my account with Youtube too!

We went to a new park in Lee's Summit off of Pryor Road (at least, I think its new!). It was a lot of fun...see the videos below :)

We went to Patrick's little brother's (Andrew) 14th birthday...and got to see all of the family. Patrick has four brothers, two of which are older, married and have beautiful children ~ my 2 gorgeous nieces and 1 handsome nephew :)

Destin loved the cake!

Arwen and her Uncle Daniel

The girls had so much fun playing with their cousins - and next weekend we are going to my oldest niece's birthday party at a skating rink :) We cannot wait!

Sunday...Patrick went to Paradise Park with his younger brother, Eric and they hit softballs (they are practicing for their summer league). I went to the grocery store (and got some great deals - see post here). Then we went outside for a little bit to play, while daddy mowed the yard (Destin helped too).

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I got some big news on Monday night and cannot wait to share it with you all :)

Here is my new signature :)
